The Magic Shadows

The Project

In this project, I capture the surreal experience of my first visit to Tunisia without my mother, a journey undertaken a year and a half after her passing. The visual narrative begins in black and white, reflecting the starkness and melancholy of my initial emotions. This monochromatic palette persists until we visit her resting place in the cemetery, where, symbolically, colors begin to seep into the images, mirroring the gradual awakening of my inner feelings.

As the journey progresses, the imagery evolves. Laughter and lighter moments start to break through, signaling a shift in perspective. The photographs transcend mere nostalgia, blossoming into a tapestry of memories viewed through a lens of newfound understanding and appreciation. This project is not just a chronicle of grief and remembrance, but also a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and its capacity to find beauty and renewed perspective even in the wake of loss.

The Installation

In this space, I've reinterpreted the traditional role of the viewer, drawing inspiration from the simple act of exploring clothes in a store. The photographs are presented not on a wall, but suspended from a clothes rack. This approach encourages the audience to interact, to touch and rearrange the images.
