The Swirling Cypress of Point Lobos
In a realm predominantly ruled by computer-generated NFTs, this series stands apart by harnessing the unpredictable forces of nature and human spontaneity as its creative seeds.
Available on the open sea over here.
While the digital world often leans towards calculated precision, this collection deliberately embraces the organic interplay of the natural world and human intuition. My aim was to step away from computer generated art and let the whims of nature and playful human impulses guide the artistic process.
This artistic journey led to a profound realization about the singularity of experiences. 'The First Cypress Swirl #0' sets a precedent, with each of the subsequent five photographs inspired by, yet distinct from, the first. These attempts to replicate the initial magic reveal the elusive nature of such an endeavor. Each piece diverges in its execution, underscoring a profound truth: in art, as in life, the first experience possesses an irreplaceable essence.
Thus, each photograph in the series stands as a testament to individuality and the beauty of the unattainable—each swirl a unique narrative, irreplaceable and distinct.
Captured on Thursday, October 13th, 2022, at Point Lobos Reserve Park in California, every image was taken with a 2-second shutter speed, zooming in and out during the exposure while simultaneously rotating the camera body. This method underscores the fusion of calculated technique and spontaneous creation, a balance that defines this collection.
